Michael J. Conry

Michael, a native of Tulsk, Co. Roscommon, received his early education at Bishop Hodson's Grammer School, Elphin, Roscommon C.B.S, U.C.G and U.C.D. He joined An Foras Taluntáis in 1959 and became a career soil scientist and agronomist, publishing seminal studies on iron-pan podzols and plaggen soils in Ireland, books on the soils of various counties and over 40 research papers on soil genesis and crop husbandry in Irish, British and European journal.
In recent years, Michael devoted his extra-curricular activities to studying various aspects of Irish heritage, especially in the field of industrial archaeology and has published a number of books in these subjects. These include :
